Can we add a Trellis Gate?

Simply build a section of trellis that is capped off with 2x4

rather than fastened to the posts. Make it a maximum

43" space between posts.

Build the gate 1" smaller than the opening and the same height

as the trellis. It is acceptable to make the gate shorter to allow

for extra ground clearance.

Install a gate-wire that will keep the gate square from the swing-side

of the gate to the upper hinge. This will keep the gate from sagging.

Install a headpiece to prevent the weight of the gate from making the

post carrying the weight from leaning.
