How
to Measure and mark more Accurately
“If
you are rusty on fractions
you’d be best to brush up on them. For decking purposes you should
be able to read to the nearest 1/8”
We’ll
use a faster method
for getting down to within 1/16”.
A hand drawn +
to indicate +1/16, and a - to indicate -1/16”
Make your mark up to the
line that indicates the measurement you want, but not beyond. (as in
the
drawing above) Add
a line to indicate
which side to cut on.
If you take your time to mark
accurately and carefully, and use an accurate square to extend your
mark you will have a much easier time cutting accurately. Mark up to
the dimension you want, and when you cut, leave the line for perfect
accuracy.
