This client showed us
a photo of a bench with arbor and asked if we could adapt
pergola
plans T005 pro (click to buy the stock plans),to
fit a bench within. I thought it sounded like a fantastic idea!

Here
is the initial concept we provided and he loved it immedietly. The
client intended to build it himself so we shipped him the stock plan
and moved on to develop the drawings.

This
is the layout we provided to show where the posts get mounted and
length of beams.

This
is the section drawing to show him how to construct the bench once the
columns and headpieces and braces were installed. He did that from the
stock plans.

And
here is what Mr. Craig Shaw did on his own using our plans in Edmonton
Alberta. Nice work Craig!

The
beams and braces offer stunning architectural appeal and shield his
family from the neighbors.

The
bench is comfortable and cozy--it works well as a privacy screen.

He
stained the pergola bench to match the fence and house trim.
He
also pre-stained as we instructed, so the project won't need restaining
every year.

Even
without the foliage on the trees, this makes a fine architectural
accent.

All
that is missing is cushions, wine glasses and friends!
Here's
a note we received from Crag after he finished and sent some pictures...
Hi
Lawrence,
I
bet you think I forgot to send the promised pictures to you, but it is
finally done! It took an extra long time to complete as we
had to deal with a drainage issue in the back corner of our yard - the
bench now conceals a sump pit. When we were digging
the holes for the footings, the water was filling it in just as fast as
we were digging it out! It also didn't help that I have never
done anything like this before, so it took many days off of patient and
paced work to complete. I want to thank you for the plans you
made for me, they helped to create an amazing focal point in our
backyard that receives nothing but compliments from neighbours, friends
and family...so, thank you again!
Craig Shaw--
