Pergola Plans
These pergola plans show how you to build this
elaborate pergola originally featured in "House and Home Magazine".
This furniture like pergola can be erected on any existing deck or
patio, and the bracing helps prevent racking. This pergola is a
stunning addition to any garden, creating a cozy private room to make
you feel comfortable in your own space. Privacy issues are solved
instantly with this pergola plan.

Tapered
Columns add grace to this pergola plan. Classical decorative cuts on
the beams and functional knee brace brackets give this simple project
interest. Using brackets to mount this pergola to a patio or existing
deck, this pergola will offer style and grace. The decorative screens
will allow climbing vines to cascade over this pergola to add even more
privacy. As the designer did here, staging with table and chairs, found
objects and chandelier and potted plants adds instant substance to this
pergola. If you use the proper footing detail, it will make this
structure more permanent. Use any type of patio you like beneath this
pergola--and install planting pockets so that the vines root well. A
planting pocket is a 3' deep pocket of rich earth that enables plants
to grow more vigorously.

Robert Cerruti
purchased these pergola plans and sent us this photo of a
semi-stained pergola he built using our details. Very nice work Robert.
As you can see, ,pergolas in semi transparent finish don't show off the
detail as well as when they are done in a solid color. It is a
different look, but I am sure it works well with the home in this case.
The southern states seem to prefer semi- finishes on their pergolas.
