Shown here is the typical rail
installation for a board on board or
board 1 side fence. 2-2x4” members mounted in the upright position and “crown up”. This will give
optimum horizontal
strength and allow the fence to last and look good for years to come.
This

we install the rails in a vertical position. Rails in a horizontal
position
will give 1/3 of the strength that orienting them vertically.
